Failure Succeeds

I don’t read many books as I don’t have time, the irony of this statement would not be lost on you if you chose to read this book, but my stepson told me this book is a must read so I decided to make the time and I’m glad I did.

It’s not uncommon for books to “big up” those they are written about and focus on a person’s success and how they made it happen, after all it’s about sales as well as a good read and we all want to feel good about ourselves.

Whilst this book does that, it also brings into focus the real effort required and how David Goggins achieved what he has and whilst it’s not pretty in parts it’s compelling in its honesty and advice.

If you want to know who he is then here’s a link to his wiki page: David Goggins - Wikipedia

What stands out to me is his failures outnumber his successes and he takes complete ownership of them all. However he uses those experiences to become successful, but at a personal price and at times to those around him.

To my point about time: he relies on planning his time meticulously, but he’s very clear on the importance of what needs to be included in his plans, both work and personal along with the clear divide between the two and things that cross that divide and their impact to him. He challenges people who do not have time to do important things very simply "If you work 40 hours a week what do you want to do with the remaining 128 hours in that week?".

I hope you enjoy the read, you’ll find no management talk or BS, instead some tips and challenges on how you can make a positive change for yourself.
